Soothing Music by ‘United Artists’ Mesmerize Seniors

Mangaluru: Life in a nursing home can get a little boring day after day. To spice things up a bit, the awesome music group, “The United Artists” under the able leadership of music maestro F M Lobo, and brass band genius Harry D’Souza, both residents of Bejai, decided to give back a little bit and surprise their favorite audience with an impromptu concert, at “Nympha Sadan”, Bolar-Mangaluru on Sunday, 24th July 2016, the band’s 3rd Open Public performance in the City. These amazingly talented musicians put on a spectacular show, and it was way better than any of the old timers ever expected. The group surprised the residents with a truly incredible music and ending their session with a non-stop baila, where some of the seniors got up and tried to shake their hips. The band giving renditions from the yesteryears, so this blast from the past was a much-appreciated surprise for the seniors. Once the Baila music started, the old-timers couldn’t stop moving their feet – the special performance by the band lifted their spirits! Who said that seniors can’t dance?

Nympha Sadan, a home for the aged is another answer to the need of the times. “Nympha Sadan” the Resident Home for Senior Citizens, started functioning on 1st July 2007 and is situated in the heart of Mangaluru City, behind Rosario Cathedral Church. The Ursuline Franciscan Sisters (UFS) of Mangaluru have brought to being a modern venture for the welfare of the ageing. It is looked upon as a new Apostolate and forerunner of other potential institutions being visualised for the future. Under the divine leadership of their Ursuline Superior General, many sisters of the congregation are working with dedication to shaping this place into a true home. Presently, it is being cared for day to day, by the core team of Sisters and others ably guiding a host of caregivers keeping the occupants ever smiling. Their goal ‘to bring wholeness into the lives of the senior citizens to spend their retired life in peaceful and loving atmosphere’ is visibly seen to be fulfilled.

Without a doubt, the vision of the Ursulines for this Nympha Sadan – Fullness of life, will be a reality. Their goal is to bring wholeness into the lives of the Elderly who would like to spend the latter period of their life in a peaceful and loving atmosphere, and their objectives are to offer Christ’s comforting presence, healing touch, peacefulness and loving care to the Elderly. The United Artists Band which is a group of talented music lovers and players exhibiting their talent and passion for music by meeting up, practicing and playing together for the love of music, have done a great deed by entertaining the elderly folks with their music. No doubt the band group of talented artists, is a one stop destination for all you music lovers, out there especially the Brass Band. The Band group performed and spread the joy, happiness, and teamwork among all the Residents, of the Home with their music playing/singing with brass and string instruments.

Sr Reshma welcomed the gathering, and Sr Leilia delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Maisie D’Souza,
