Vinay Kumar Sorake demands Joint Parliamentary Committee Probe into Rafale Deal

Udupi: Former Udupi District Minister In-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake demanded a probe to be conducted by a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the huge scam in the Defense deal on the purchase of Rafale fighter jets worth thousands of crores.

He was speaking at a protest organized by the Kaup Block Congress on Monday, October 1 at Kaup against the deal made by the Union Government.

Addressing the protesters Sorake said, “We have conducted this massive protest today to create awareness about the Rafale scam and expose the deep-rooted corruption which exists in the Modi-led government. Rafale deal is a massive corruption the county has witnessed in this century. The prime minister himself is involved and our country has suffered a loss of Rs 41,000 crore following the Rafale deal”.

Sorake further said, “This government is anti-people. When women and people from the backward class are subjected to violence, PM Modi keeps quiet conveniently. We demand that CAG should look into this matter and a Joint Parliamentary Committee should be appointed for the same”.

The Central government’s policies are making the lives of people hell. Most of the assurances have remained merely lip service. The unscientific implementation of GST and demonetization has created hordes of problems to the layman.

Former MLA Gopal Bhandary said that there is a need for the secular forces to join hands to fight against corruption. He alleged that the BJP is following the divide and rule policy in the name of religion. The country is built under the secular pedestal and harmony is the only way out for peace in the country. The country’s situation is deteriorating day by day following the saffronized policies of the BJP. It has come to power by playing with the sentiments of the people and by misguiding them.

Congress district unit president Janardhan Thonse said that inflation and increasing unemployment in the country have put the common man in distress. The country is witnessing chaos never seen before, he added.

AICC member Amrith Shenoy, KPCC member Veronica Cornelio, Block President Naveenchandra Shetty and others were present.
