Speaking to media persons, Sorake said that sea erosion has been a huge problem in the coastal districts every year during the monsoon. “The government has been trying its best to provide a permanent solution to this problem for the people living near the seashore. Around Rs 99 crore has been released under the ADB project for construction of a permanent seawall in the Udyavara Padukere and Yermal in Kaup region. The work will commence in the month of September. As a temporary measure, boulders are being laid wherever there is a threat of sea erosion on private properties, plantations and access roads across Kaup constituency,” he said.

The former minister was accompanied by officials of the Fisheries Department and Congress party workers – Nagesh Udyavara, Kaup Divakar Shetty, Sunil Bangera, Riaz Palli, Mahabala Kundar Shekabba, Gangadhar Suvarna, Kishore Kumar, Deepak Kumar Yermalu, Ganesh Kotian and others.
