South Kanara Ophthalmic Society to host ‘Southern Regional Ophthalmic Conference (SROC) & 37th State Ophthalmic Conference’ from 7-9 Dec at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Dr Sudhir Hegde- President of South Kanara Ophthalmic Society and also the Organizing Chairman of the the Conference said, “Southern Regional Ophthalmic Conference and 37th Karnataka State Ophthalmic Conference, is being held in Mangaluru from the 7th to 9th of December 2018, under the aegis of South Kanara Ophthalmic Society. The conference is being held in Mangaluru after a gap of 22 years and is being done in collaboration with the respective State Societies of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Pondicherry and Goa”.
He further said, “The conference aims to unite all the Ophthalmologists from the Southern States and help sharing advanced scientific knowledge in the fraternity. The conference boasts of 9 scientific halls with packed sessions which will include didactic lectures, live surgeries and orations. Free paper presentations and Post Graduate presentations are also a part of the schedule to promote scientific and research activities in the young and budding doctors”.
Dr Ajay Kudva-organizing Secretary said, “The conference is being held at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and will be one of its kind held in the city. One of the key highlights of this conference being the first ever live Ophthalmic surgical transmission from any medical college in a conference in Karnataka. In addition to the scientific delight, arrangements have been made to promote local tourism in and around Mangaluru. The delegates will have a chance to visit all temples and tourist destinations around Mangaluru. Surfing introductory classes, river rafting and kayaking, cycling and some sports events have been given as options to the delegates”.
The conference is being organized by South Kanara Ophthalmic Society under the President and Organizing Chairman Dr. Sudhir Hegde, Dr. Sai Giridhar Kamath and Dr. Vijay Pai, Organizing Co Chairman, Dr. Ajay Kudva and Dr. Vikram Jain, Organizing Secretaries and all members of South Kanara Ophthalmic Society. The inaugural ceremony will be on 7 December at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre at 5 pm- presided over by Dr A J Shetty- Chairman of Laxmi Memorial Trust/A J Hospital, and the chief guest will be Dr Ajit Babu Majji, the President of All India Ophthalmological Society. A host of other dignitaries from all over India, and a few from abroad, including Dr J Vandersteen from Netherland will grace the conference. Dr Sai Giridhar Kamath-President of Karnataka Ophthalmic Society, and Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu- Secretary of Karnataka Ophthalmic Society will also grace the occasion.
Dr Vikram Jain- organizing secretary of South Kanara Ophthalmic Society, and Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu were also present during the press meet.
