SP Dr Ravikanthe Gowda Clarifies Allegations against DCIB Police for Raid on Recreation Club
Mangaluru: “Some TV channels without clarifying the facts have telecasted misleading information about the raid conducted by the DCBI police Inspector Sunil Y Naik in Beltangady saying that it was a fake raid. Such unconfirmed news will not only demotivate but also demoralize trustworthy police officers from carrying out their duty efficiently. Those TV channels before telecasting the news had not asked for any clarifications from the higher officers in connection with the raid”, stated SP Dr Ravikanthe Gowda in a press release on August 10.
Briefing on the raid which was carried out by the DCBI Inspector Sunil Naik, SP Ravikanthe Gowda clarified, “Before carrying out the raid on M R Recreation Club in Madanthyar, Inspector Sunil had informed me and according to my instructions the raid was conducted.”
A search warrant was also issued by the Bantwal Sub-division ASP Sonavane Rishikesh. The raid was conducted with a search warrant from the Bantwal Sub-division.
Permission for the raid was also obtained from the ACJ and JMFC Court Beltangady. The raid was jointly conducted by the DCBI Police team and the Punjalkatte Police inspector and team. Such raids are normally conducted by the DCBI team wearing civil dress. We will continue to raid such places where licence is obtained in the name of Skill games and Video games and misused for gambling purposes and take stern action against them.
