SP Laxman Nimbargi Warns of Stringent Action against Matka Operators
Udupi: The Udupi district police have decided to take strict action against Matka operators. 26 arrests were made in connection with 24 matka cases in a single day in the district.
The arrested have been identified as Prakash Shetty (44) and Purandara (43) Under Hiriyadka PS, Ananda (58) Brahmavar, Sanjeev Shervegar(42) under Ajekar PS, Ashok N (46) under Udupi Town PS, Shirkanth (32), Raghavendra (35) under Kollur PS, Sharath under Malpe PS, Prakash (42), Keshava (45) under Karkala Town PS, Narayana Mogaveera (62), Damodar Sherigar (50) under Gangolli PS, Shivaraj (24), Shashikumar(25) under Kundapur PS, Vijay Shetty (29), Prakash Devadiga (35) under Byndoor PS, Rama Kulal (58) under Shankernarayana PS, Shivananda Poojary (51) Hebri PS, Krishna Marakala (61), Babu Poojary(49) under Kota PS, Sharath Kumar (30), Chenna Poojary (38) Kundapura Rural PS and Sharath Shetty (29) under the Shirva PS.
On Monday morning the police paraded those arrested in the Matka case at the SP office. During the parade Superintendent of Police, Laxman Nimbargi warned the accused of stringent action against those involved in the Matka business.
The SoP gives strict warning instead of implementing
the law on gambling. Those arrested will be let loose
to continue their BUSINESS. It’s just a waste of time
if those 26 arrested in ONE DAY are not penalized and
punished
