Specially designed chariot to lead BJP yatra

Bengaluru, (DHNS): The state BJP is giving the final touches to its plan of having a specially designed “Ratha” (chariot) to criss-cross the state during its 70-day Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthan yatra.

“The plan is to have a modified vehicle with two levels. There will be a platform on the top that will allow around 20 leaders to stand, with seating arrangements below,” BJP state general secretary N Ravikumar, who along with other top functionaries, is chalking out the modalities of the yatra, told DH.

The chariot will also have a cubicle for leaders to refresh themselves. State leaders along with scores of party workers will accompany the chariot. The BJP has a penchant to use “rath yatra” politically ever since its senior leader L K Advani embarked on a Ram Rath Yatra in the late 1980s.

The yatra will be launched on November 2.

The state leaders have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the yatra and have been promised a confirmation by the end of this month.

Several central leaders will join the yatra, the route map of which is being worked out. Leaders plan to target the Siddaramaiah government and highlight the achievements of the NDA regime during the yatra which will cover all the 224 Assembly constituencies in the state.
