Spectacular Procession with Fanfare Marks End of Ganeshotsava

Mangaluru: The 26th year Ganeshotsava organized by the Hindu Yuva Sene came to an end with a grand procession from the Nehru Maidan on September 19.

From the past 26 years, the Hindu Yuva Sene has been organizing the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava at the Nehru Maidan with the Ganesha idol being worshiped for seven days. This year the worship of the Ganesha Idol began on September 12 and will culminate on September 19 with the immersion of the idol in the Mahamayi Temple Pond.

From past 26 years Bobby audio and Video owned by Umesh Pai, Dinaker and Venu have offered the 6 1/2 feet garland for the Ganeshotsava at Nehru Maidan. Speaking to mangalorean.com Umesh Pai said, “From the past 26 years we are offering garlands during Ganeshotsava. Last year we had given a 6 ft garland made of Laddus. This year we have made the garland with 2500 Chaklis and flowers. Next year we will come with a unique garland”.

Maralayya Seva Samiti Ashok Nagar offered a Garland made of 90 kgs laddus. The Ganesha idol was worshipped for 7 days at the Nehru Maidan from September 12 and on September 19, after the Maha Puja, the Ganesha Idol was carried in a procession to a decorated truck. There were a number of tableaux depicting Shiva, Parvati, Hanuman and other epic heroes.

The procession will culminate at Car Street and the Ganesha Idol will be immersed in the Mahamayi Temple Pond. The Mangaluru Commissionerate had made all the safety arrangements for the smooth conclusion of the programme.
