Sports meet ‘Holapu – 2017’ for Elected Representatives on October 29

Udupi: “A sports meet “Holapu – 2017″ for the elected representatives of rural and urban local bodies will be held at the Viveka High School Ground, Kota in Udupi district on October 29”,  said Pramod Hande president of Kota Thattu Grama Panchayat.

He was speaking at a press meet held at MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary’s office, Udupi on October 26. The sports meet will be held at the Vivek Vidya Samsthe stadium, Kota. About 4,000 elected representatives from 270 rural and urban local bodies in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are expected to participate in the sports meet.

While the first, second and third place winners would get prizes, there would also be a prize for the champion team of the meet. Preliminary arrangements for the sports tournament and cultural programme are already underway at Kota. The events for the sports tournament including tug-of-war, throw ball, 100-metre race, shot put and ring-in-the-wicket. Cultural events include super minute, fancy dress competitions, singing and quiz competitions. As many as 160 physical directors would be supervising the various sports events.

The procession carrying the sports torch will begin from the Kotathattu Gram Panchayat office and brought to the Vivek School grounds and handed over to H K Patil, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat, who will inaugurate the sports meet.

D V Sadananda Gowda Union minister; B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Environment and Forests; Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports; U T Khader, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies; Eshwar Khandre, Minister for Municipal Administration and Local Bodies will participate in the events, he said.

Dinakar Babu Zilla Panchayat president released the T-shirts and caps during the press meet. Taluk Panchayat president Nalini Pradeep Rao, Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC and others were present at the press meet.
