Spreading Light of Happiness! SAC Alumni/Minister U T Khader Congrats 150 St Aloysius ITI Graduates

Mangaluru: One of the great benefits in pursuing your career in technical field rather that burning your midnight oil to excel in your college degree or post-graduate career, is that you have your job ready when you complete your ITI course-whereas when you graduate in degree college or postgraduate you will have to go around searching for a good job, which may take months or could be years. So, would you prefer to do your Graduate and Post Graduate studies, and then after graduating wait a long time to get a better and good paying job” or Would you prefer to pursue your career in technical/mechanical field, and once you complete your training/course, when there is a job waiting for you at a reputed company? I bet you would opt for the latter to pursue your career in tech field and anticipate a bright future ahead. Do you know that Electricians, Plumbers, Air Condition mechanics, Automobile mechanics and those trained and qualified in any technical field earn big money than those in medical field in European countries.

And today, was a big day for 150 Graduates of St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute {SAITI}-Mangaluru, that they not only were overwhelmed with the success in their academics, but together they were over-joyed that a job was waiting ready for them at Hyundai, Jaquar or other Industrial firms. Yes, it’s true- Graduation Day fills the heart with mixed feelings. Fulfillment and sadness, anxiety and eagerness, say goodbye to the secure life within the Institute walls and get ready to explore a new world altogether. 24 July 2018, the management and staff of SAITI, parents, teachers, relatives and friends of the students gathered here in large numbers for the “GRADUATION and FAREWELL Ceremony, held at the Roof Top arena. It was a great occasion in the lives of all the students. It was also due recognition for the outstanding work of the principal/staff/teachers and also a pretty emotional day for the parents.

Just looking around, the happy smiling faces says so much about the environment at this prestigious institution. No doubt, the SAITI places great value on community, learning, fun and a youth-centered approach. The credit for the success and educational growth of these students should go to the Director Fr Eric Mathias SJ, Principal Vincent Mendonsa, and lecturers of this institution, for caring and nurturing students relationship. At SAITI, it’s like a family, where the management, faculty and staff share and interact with each other. A graduation ceremony is a pageant celebrating the transition from student to graduate and marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their life. As it is said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. An attitude of absoluteness is the basis for everything. All these 150 graduates, boys and girls, dressed to thrill in their graduation attire, who were about to receive their certificates were all beaming with smile and pride as they were seated amidst their teachers, parents and Institute-mates.

The programme began with a welcome dance, followed by welcome address by SAITI Principal Vincent Mendonsa. The Chief guests for the occasion was State Minister for Urban Development and Housing, and Geo D’silva-Ex-Special Officer Placement, VTU; and guests of honor-Dr Stanley Joseph-General Secretary of SKIP { Skills for Progress (SKIP) is an all India Association of Private Technical/Vocational Training Institutions}; Anup Annigeri-In-Charge of Jaquar Foundation, Karnataka Area Services; and presided over by Fr Dionysius Vas-Rector, St Aloysius Institutions. As a proud alumni of this prestigious St Aloysius Institution, I say that what I am today is only because of the education and morals that I learned from the Jesuit priests and other faculties. During my life as a student at St Aloysius I learned five characters, namely Compassion, Creativity, Conviction, Persuasion, and Courage. You all should be lucky to be a student of this institute, and when you go out from this institute, you will always remain an Aloysian. The future belongs to the people with technical abilities. Technical field provides a bright future. Human resource is the greatest strength of India.”

“Today the world is looking towards India for its talented and skilled pool of youngsters. This institution shaped me as a person. The values picked from this great institution are still helping me. Never look at the salary in the beginning. Be honest in your work. Don’t confine yourself to the limited work, but do a bit extra than required. The thing that differentiates between ordinary and extra-ordinary is that little extra. Never forget the institution and teachers. Take care of your parents and grant them the life of dignity. Our Government is also keen in recognising the skilled people and help them to earn the livelihood. “Kaushalya Bhagya” is being implemented successfully across the state. In very near future, we will see ITI graduates earning much higher than Engineers/medical/Business graduates. Values, honesty and ethics are needed for building a long-term successful career. So be happy that you have picked a right career, and you will have a better future. Best of luck in your career”.

Geo D’Silva addressing the students said, “Graduation day is not an end, but it is the beginning of a new pathway. This institution is committed for quality and the students of this institution are excellent. Do not forget the institution, instead come back to the institution once in a while and share your experiences with the students so that they also get motivated. Do not talk politics and things related to religion in the workplace. Always keep professional language, and communication level at work. You also need to share your educational experiences with others. Take an oath that you will not accept bribe or be a corrupt person while at work. Be flexible and never compromise on your ethics. Never think that your education ends here. Learning is a process. You have to continuously upgrade yourself to build a successful career. And like what the minister said, don’t always look for higher salary, instead work hard and be happy, and slowly upgrade forward. Success will come your way sooner or later, so don’t rush and make quick decisions, which may ruin your life. Best of luck”

Guests of Honour Joseph Stanley also speaking said, “I can see lots of smiling faces here. Your Graduation day will be the most memorable event of your life. I always feel happy when I come here, because of all you happy and friendly people at SAITI”. In his Presidential address Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ said, “Once an Aloysian always an Aloysian. An Aloysian should have innovative mindset, discerning power, critical reflection, compassion and ethics. Do not just remain as an admirer, but be an achiever.
