Sri Lankan PM Wickremesinghe arrives at Kollur, offers prayer at Sri Mookambika Temple
Kundpaur: Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka arrived at Kollur in Udupi district here on Tuesday, November 21. He was welcomed at the Are-Shiroor helipad by Priyanka Mary Francis Deputy commissioner and Dr Sanjeev M Patil Superintendent of Police Udupi district and other dignitaries.
Wickremesinghe arrived by helicopter at Areshiroor near Kollur and then proceed to the Mookambika Temple guesthouse. He was given the traditional “Purna Kumbha” welcome at the entrance of the Temple.
Later he participated in the “Mangalarti” ritual at the Temple. He also participated in a “Chandika Homa” and offered the “Purnahuti” at the “Homa Kunda”.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister, accompanied by wife Maithree Wickremesinghe, also took part in the ‘Shata Chandika Yaga’ as part of the ongoing three-day ritual, temple officials said.
He was scheduled to visit the temple in August, but the plan was cancelled at the last minute owing to bad weather.
