Sri Lankan PM’s Kollur temple visit cancelled
Udupi (Update from PTI) The visit of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Sri Mookambika temple in Udupi district today was cancelled due to bad weather.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister was scheduled to visit the temple at 11 am.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis told reporters at Shiroor helipad near Byndoor that the dignitary might reach on another day if the weather conditions improved.
Wickremesinghe, who is now in Bengaluru, could not fly to Byndoor as his chopper could not take off from the capital city even after 12 noon due to bad weather conditions both in Bengaluru and the coastal Karnataka region, she said.
Helipad in-charge Sneha Kulkarni along with Air Force squad had camped at Shiroor and made all arrangements to receive Wickremesinghe.
Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary and SP Sanjeev Patil and other officials were present at the helipad.
Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to Kollur Postponed
Udupi: The visit of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Kollur to take part in a special Puja at the Mookambika Temple has been postponed due to weather conditions on August 27.
Earlier his visit to Sri Mookambika Temple at Kollur was scheduled on August 26 but due to heavy rains, it was postponed to August 27.
All the arrangements have been made to receive the PM of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Are-Shiroor Helipad. PM Ranil Wickremesinghe is already in Bengaluru and may fly to Kollur any time depending on the weather conditions.
He will be accompanied by Maitree Wickremasinghe, spouse of the prime minister, V Krishnamoorthy Deputy High Commissioner of Srilanka, G Sathsivam, Jayantha Wickramasinghe DIG, Ashoka Yatigammana PSO and Dr DMES Wijeyapala.
