Sri Rama Sene holds protest against Iftar in Udupi

Udupi: Chanting of Mantras and singing of Bhajans mark the protest organised by Sri Rama Sene at the Clock Tower here on July 2 against organising the Iftar in Sri Krishna Math.

The protest was inaugurated by the lighting lamp by Mohan Bhat Mangaluru Regional convenor along with Vijay Kumar of Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi.

Speaking on the occasion Mohan Bhat said that Swamiji’s act has pained the Hindu community and prayers will be offered to Sri Krishna so that such an act should not repeated in the Sri Krishna Math. We respect Swamiji as he is a strong protector of Hindus. “His role in protecting Hindus will never be forgotten. He was our leader, he is our leader and he will be our leader. We respect him. But allowing to offer Namaz in Math is unacceptable. The Swamiji has been firm on his stand saying Anna Brahma has no connection with Krishna Math. We are not against Iftar, but ‘Namaz’ should not have been allowed there. To express our pain, we are holding prayers , he added.

Vijay Kumar convenor of Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi said that Swamiji has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. By offering Namaz, the Sanctity of the Temple premises has been desecrated. Pejawar Swamiji should tender an public apology for organising the Iftar in the Sri Krishna Math and should also purify the temple premises using cow urine, failing which we will intensify our struggle through peaceful means, he said.

The district police had made elaborate security arrangements across the city and 6 entrances of Sri Krishna Math.
