Sringeri Couple Commit Suicide in Kundapur Lodge
Kundapur: A couple from Sringeri committed suicide by consuming poison at a lodge in Kundapur on Sunday, September 30.
The deceased have been identified as Gurumurthy (43) and Sharada (30) residents of Sringeri.
According to the Kundpaur Police, Gurumurthy and Sharada had checked into Hotel Hariprasad Kundapur on September 26. On September 30, when the room boy knocked on the door to clean the room there was no response. Later when he peeped through the window, he saw the couple lying in the room and suspected something might be wrong and informed the hotel authorities.
The Hotel Authorities immediately informed the Kundpaur Town Police. The Town Police then visited the spot and informed the family members of the couple. The family members arrived at Kundapur in the evening and in their presence, the police broke open the room lock.
The police have recovered the bottles containing poison and the death note from the hotel room. The death note stated that Sharada’s husband was responsible for taking this extreme step.
It is learnt that Gurumurthy was married and has two children. Sharada who is also married has an 8-year-old daughter and both were in love. Sharada’s husband Ramesh had objected to their illicit relationship.
Kundapur police have registered a case in this regard.
