Manipal: Classes for SSLC students will function till March 29 to facilitate effective preparation for the examinations, said ZP CEO Priyanka Mary Francis. She was speaking at a press meet held at Dr V S Acharya Memorial Hall, Rajathadri, Manipal here on March 17.
Earlier, SSLC classes used to end on March 10 but upon the request of parents and also to facilitate revision, classes will function till March 29. The Department of Public Instruction has organized 32 camps for 10,000 students to build confidence in them to face the SSLC examinations. Officials of the DDPI will hold frequent meetings. 132 students from the Korga Community will be given special coaching for 7 days in the residential camp with the support from Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal. A book titled ‘Sadaneya Hadiyalli’ has been distributed to students which contains question papers on every subject.
The DDPI and his team will visit schools to encourage the students and teachers. A compact disc (CD) on social science has been released and distributed to the students with the support from Lions Club. A meeting of the exam centre superintendents has been organized to ensure that no cheating will be reported in the examinations.
16074 students from Udupi district will appear for the SSLC examinations in 58 centres of which 15196 are regular students, 364 students are appearing for examinations in private and 514 students are repeaters.
Squads have been formed for controlling cheating and copying. Xerox centres are to be remained closed, Section 144 will be imposed covering 200 meters of the examination centres. The police constables will be deputed for the examination centres, she added.
The Department of Public Instruction is closely monitoring the assessment of students in the schools, institutions that force average students to appear for examinations in private will be dealt severely, said Diwakar Shetty, DDPI Udupi. We are confident of achieving 95% results in the district. 2366 applications have been received under RTI for 2016-17, he added.
