St Aloysius B. Ed College conducts the 11th Graduation Day

 

Mangaluru: St Aloysius B. Ed College, a leading Institute of Teacher of Education of the city conducted the eleventh graduation day for its 2017-19 batch in its campus. The celebration started with the academic procession consisting of the graduating students, the faculty, the Vice Principal, the Principal, the Director, the Chief Guest and the Rector along with the accompaniment of music. Dr Farita Veigas the Principal welcomed the gathering and presented the graduating students. Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector declared the Graduation day open. Prof Dr V. Ravindrachary, Registrar (Evaluation), Mangalore University gave away the certificates. This was followed by Oath which was administered by Rev. Fr Dionysus Vaz SJ, Rector and President of the programme. Mrs Ashalatha, the Student Vice President gave the valedictorian address.

Addressing the graduate teachers Rev. Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Director of the College said, “Values are the moral principles that govern the conduct of an individual. A positive value system in a profession is important, because it helps an individual to grow and create the future he or she wants to experience. Teachers play an important role in students’ life to become successful in their future. They should inculcate values like integrity, continuous self learning and responsibility towards students”. He also reminded the would-be teachers the four pillars of education: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to be.

The Chief Guest of the programme Prof. V. Ravindrachary, Registrar (Evaluation), Mangalore University, encouraged the students for choosing the noble profession of teaching. He said that a teacher can make or break a whole generation. The teaching profession is nothing but nation building. He urged the graduating students to be teachers that would encourage the students to ask questions and know the basic knowledge. He also urged them to be continuous learners and to be honest in their approach and develop into confident teachers.

Rev. Fr Dionysus Vaz SJ, Rector St Aloysius College Institutions in his presidential address congratulated the students on their Graduation and for choosing St Aloysius Institute of Education and he told the students not to forget the three “C”s’ of Jesuit Education, Commitment, Compassion and Concern. He urged the graduating student teachers to be caring towards their students as one will never know what they are facing. The ultimate aim of your education is to transform your students into being better human beings. He told the students never stop learning and be in touch with the youngsters and up to date with new knowledge so that the term generation gap does not become a reality.

Mrs Delna Lobo (Vice Principal), presented the annual report. Mrs Sandhya (Lecturer and Student Welfare Officer) administered the oath for the office bearers of Student Council. The college newsletter ‘Aloysian Chronicles’ (Volume 10, 2015-18) was released during this occasion. Niranjan Keshav Nayak and Shwetha B were acknowledged with mementos for scoring highest marks in the B. Ed degree Examination.

Vinutha D’Souza UFS and group invoked God’s blessings. Shreya and group performed a welcome dance. Mrs Sarika Rodrigues (convenor) introduced the chief guest to the audience. Mrs Joshna B (Lecturer) announced the list of the top scorers. Vanshika Mathias (student vice president), proposed the vote of thanks. Shivani and Eric (second year B. Ed students) compered the programme.
