St Aloysius College Primary School hosts Sports Day 2019
Mangaluru: St Aloysius College Primary School Kodialbail , Mangalore witnessed the Annual Sports day on 20 Nov 2019 at the Gonzaga Stadium . The athletes had assembled the Gonzaga Stadium . The Chief guest of the day was Daphynl Concesso – a prominent musician . He was escorted by Rector – Rev Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rev. Fr. Gerald Furtado S.J – Correspondent. , Mrs. Philomena Lewis -Headmistress , and Arvind K Rao – Vice president of the PTA.
The headmistress – Mrs. Philomena Lewis welcomed the guests and the gathering formally . This was followed by the unfurling of the school flag. A spectacular march past by the four houses, the scouts and cubs was witnessed by a large number of audience followed by a general salute by the Chief Guest .The State level winners and the District level winners took part in the rally by lighting the torch.
The sports day was inaugurated and declared open by the chief guest. All the dignitaries then released the balloons to mark the expression of joy. The oath taking was represented by Srithan Shetty and the house leaders. The most enthralling event was the splendid field
display by the students of Std V .
The chief guest Daphynl Concesso, an old student recalled the memories of his childhood and was delighted to be part of the day after many years . In his message he suggested the athletes to give 100% dedication and become priceless diamonds for the future, alternatively to be a winner to themselves. The students should balance their time between the academics and sports.
Rector Fr Dionysius Vaz said that students must have a desire, vision, skill and determination. The will should be stronger than the skill. The stamina, inside the students must help to develop full potential, dedication and determination to achieve their goal in life. He appreciated the hard work of students for making the day’s event a grand success.
Fr Gerald Furtado, the correspondent appreciated the team spirit and the meticulous work by the members of the staff. The students of Std V displayed bamboo and ribbon dance. Then the much awaited track and field events started. The enthusiastic parents gathered in large numbers to witness the event and applauded the participants.
The closing ceremony, was held in the evening. The Chief guest was Rupesh Kumar an advocate . The sports day was declared closed by chief guest .The school flag was then brought down respectfully and was handed over to the headmistress. The certificates and medals were given away by the chief guest, parents, teachers to the winners .
The winners of the relay of Std V – VII, were awarded the medals by the Chief guest followed by announcing the highest house points and handing over the trophy to the house also the individual champions were honoured by trophies. . The inaugural ceremony was anchored by Mrs. Celestine Vaz and closing ceremony was compered by Padmanabhan . Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Anitha Pinto and Prakash Dsouza . The credit goes to Arun Baptist and Harish Kulal , the physical educators of our institution for making this Sports Day to be successful a one . The meet concluded with the National Anthem.
