St Aloysius College to organize ‘Aloysian Literature Festival’ from Feb 9-16

 

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ-Principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru he gave the following details pertaining to the Äloysian Literature Festival 2019:

The Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in English, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru is organising “Aloysian Literature Festival” from 9 February to 16 February, 2019. Aloysian Literary Festival will be inaugurated on 9 February by Rev Fr. Dionysius Vaz, S J, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Praveen Martis S J, Principal, Shri. Abhaya Simha will be the guest of honour. 0n 9 and 10 February there is a Workshop in Film Appreciation, offered by Sri. Abhaya Simha, Director, Screen Writer and the winner of National Award for two of his films.

On 9 February at 7 pm Ninasam Tirugata team will be performing “Sethu Bhandana”, written and Directed by Akshara K V and on 10 February at 7 pm there will be a performance of “Ashcharya Choodamani” written by Shakthi Bhadra, translated by Venkataramana Aithal and directed by Joseph John. A National Seminar on Ecology and Literature is organised on 11 and 12 February.

Jnanpitha Awardee Prof. Chandra Shekar Kambar will inaugurate the seminar and Prof Pramod K Nayar from the University of Hyderabad will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Nagesh Hegde, Environmentalist and Journalist, Prof. Nagaraju from Central University of Karnataka, Prof. Rajendra Chenni, Director of Manasa, Sri Shivasundar, Journalist and Activist, Prof. K S Vaishali from Banagalore University, Prof. Vijaya Kumar Boratti from University of Mysore and Sri Raghunandana, Poet, Playwright and Stage Director have been invited as resource persons.

“Amrutha Ghalige”, a Play written by Dr Saraswati, Head of the Department of Kannada will be released during the inauguration of the seminar by Prof. Chandrashekara Kambar.

A Workshop on “Playing the World: Intuition, Enquiry, Insight: A Workshop in Cultural Studies and Critical Thinking through Theatre and Arts appreciation” is offered by Sri Raghunandana, Poet-Playwright and Stage Director from 13 to 15 February.

A Workshop in Creating Editorial Cartoons is offered by Satish Acharya on 16 February.

A Valedictory of Aloysian Literature Festival has been arranged on 16 February. Director Mafeii block Dr Loveena Lobo will preside over and the Dean of PG Studies will be the guest of honour. All the events are open to students, teachers and interested persons.

Dr Melissa Goveas-HOD of Englisg Dept, Dr Saraswathi-HOD of Kannada Dept, and Dr Girish PG-Professor in Dept of PG Englisg at St Aloysius were also present during the press meet.
