St Ann’s College holds Conference on ‘ Paradigms of Educational Research’

St. Ann’s College of Education-Mangaluru holds National Conference on “Paradigms of Educational Research – Status and Challenges”

Mangaluru: A two- day National Conference was conducted by St. Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), Mangaluru on 22nd and 23rd February 2017. With a vision to make quality the defining element of higher education, the College organized a two-day national conference to provide a platform to Researchers to discuss the status and challenges of paradigms and methodologies of Educational Research and contribute to the progress of the respective disciplines in particular and Education in general.

The Conference was inaugurated by Sr. Ida Barboza A.C, Secretary, The Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, St. Ann’s Convent, Mangaluru as the Chief Guest Dr Shefali Pandya, Professor and Dean, Faculty of education, University of Mumbai, Mumbai as the Guest of Honour. The Conference began with Plenary Sessions on themes of Qualitative Research in Education, Mixed Research, Interdisciplinary Research and Information and Communication Technology in Educational Research. The Resource persons Dr Shefali Pandya, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Mumbai, Mumbai in her talk on Qualitative Research in Education spoke on how students need to take up challenges and raise our standards high by conducting in-depth Research.

Dr K.R Chandrashekar, Professor, Dept of Applied Botany, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri in his session touched upon steps for developing and conducting Interdisciplinary Research and well as opportunities and challenges. Dr. G Vishwanathappa, Professor, Regional Institute of Education, Mysore in his session on Information and Communication Technology in Educational Research spoke on the various features of using ICT in Research and updated the participants about the statistical softwares that can be used for data analysis.

There were around seventy paper presentations on the various sub-themes. The Two Day Conference gave an insight into new visions for Educational Research and venturing into future Researchers. Prof. S. Nagendra Madhyastha, Principal, Govt College of Teacher Education, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Programme, Sr. Edna Furtado A.C, Superior, St. Ann’s Convent and Joint Secretary, St. Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru was the President of the for the Valedictory programme. Few of the participants expressed their opinions and the experiences that they cherished during these two days. The Convener Dr Mrs Vijaya Kumari S.N presented a Report on an overview of the highlights and subsequent discussions held during the conference.

Mrs Rose Pinto, Asst Professor, St. Ann’s College of Education compered the session. Dr. Mrs. Flosy C D’Souza, Associate Professor and Organizing Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
