St Anthony Statue Vandalised at Shirva, one held

Udupi: Shirva police have arrested Benedict D’Souza (57) in relation to vandalizing the statue of St Anthony and Also St Lawrence said sources.

Benedict is said to be a native of Udupi but was latter residing in Shirva. He is said to be a driver by profession.

The sources from Shirva police station told Mangalorean.com that the accused  Benedict had drunk and inebriated. Under the influence of alcohol, he entered the Our Lady of Health Church and broke the statue of St Antony and displaced the statue of St Lawrence found at the portico of the Church on Sunday.

He is produced in the court demanding judicial custody, the police said.
