St Joseph’s School hosts ‘Aikyam- Gratitude’
Mangaluru: Aikyam – Glorifying Unity and Humanity, the bi-annual inter-religious prayer service was held at St Joseph’s School, CBSE in the school auditorium on 3 March 2023. The prayer service centred around the theme of GRATITUDE being almost the end of the academic session. The chief speaker for the programme was Ms Luvena Rangel, Founder of The Curvy Yogi and President of WICCI Karnataka Yoga Sector Council.
The prayer service commenced by invoking God’s presence through a prayer dance. The students danced gracefully to the tunes of ‘You Raise Me Up.’ The lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries signified the dispelling of darkness and ignition of enlightenment. In tune with the theme of thanksgiving, the students presented a video on the various elements of nature that we are grateful for and emphasized the various ways of worshipping and thanking God practically by empathizing with the needy and helping them, not just by our lip service of praise or visiting sacred places of worship.
The recitation of sacred verses from the Holy Books of different religions and the translations that followed, were imbibed by all, as the students presented the different symbols of the major religions in India In the true spirit of secularism and harmonious acceptance. In tune withAikyam of our State with Ladakh, the students performed a traditional dance form of both states and merged it with the theme of gratitude. It was followed by a melodious rendition of a Thanksgiving song by the school choir.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Ms Luvena Rangel highlighted the importance of being grateful for every single thing that happens to us and also gave some practical tips to cope with exam blues. She asked the students to practice mindfulness and gratitude. Sr Sheena, Vice Principal emphasized on being grateful to God and the Prayer Service left a deep impression on the young minds imbibing the spirit of unity and harmony.
