St Theresa’s School Champs at ‘HIS-Lumiere’ – A Global Panorama’
St Theresa’s School, Bendoor–Mangaluru bagged the overall championship Trophy at the ‘Lumiere’- A Global Panorama- an Inter-School Literary and Cultural competition organised by Heera International School-Shakthinagar, Mangaluru
Mangaluru: There’s a saying, “I may win and I may lose, but I will never be defeated. Look in the mirror…that’s your competition! Former Indian President Late Abdul Kalam had said, ” Success is when your ‘signature’ changes to ‘Autograph’. So in order to succeed, your desire for success must be greater than your fear of losing. People always think of success. They think of winning. But, they don’t always realise that winning is not so important than participating. Participating is the main thing, as there is always something to learn . Yes, but if you can also win that is also good, but winning doesn’t teach you something (of course but, it teaches us the joy of winning), winning is something you take over because, you know a lot about it. So, there is nothing to learn by winning but, if we can’t at a time, we have to recognise that weaknesses of ours, and goal to study it so much that next time, no one can win over me. We have to participate and try to win it next time.
With a Motto- “DARE TO DREAM….LEARN TO EXCEL” Heera International School (HIS) -Shakthinagar, Mangaluru, a Sister concern of City Hospital Charitable Trust had organised “LUMIERE- A Global Panorama, an Inter-School Literary and Cultural Competition on 25th and 26 November at the School Premises. This Fest was one of the new initiatives of Heera International School in order to enable a good rapport with the schools and to encourage and motivate the hidden talents of the students. They believed that this programme will form a base for the students to go and compete in various other events at higher levels. So the School has planned to organise LUMIERE every year to provide a platform for young talents.
The Valedictory of the two-day ‘Lumiere 2016’ was held on 26 November at 2pm, where the winners were presented with the prizes won in various events. The chief guests for the occasion, Dr Roshan Shetty- correspondent, and Dr Rohan Shetty- Trustee of Heera International School in their address to the winners/participants said that winning was not so important.Taking part in any competition is important. You are all winners – don’t lose hope if you fail once – try again, and again, and success will surely come your way. You should not be disappointed or frustrated at the result. Remember that Participation is more important than just winning. If you will keep on participating in different events then surely one day you will get the result of your hard work. It is not necessary that every time the winner alone gets appreciation and fame for his work.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guests. Lily Pushpam- the Principal and Janet Thomas-Administrator of HIS also graced the occasion. The overall championship was bagged by St Theresa’s School, Bendore, Mangaluru, while the Runners-Up were Sharada Vidyalaya. During “Lumiere”- a total of 8 events were conducted, like Fancy dress, Drawing, Collage making, Best Out of Waste, Declamation, Essay Writing, Elocution and Folk dance.
