Stars Shiva Rajkumar and Rachitha Ram Grace Mosaru Kudike at Kadri

Mangaluru: It was a festive mood in the city as thousands of people witnessed the Mosaru Kudike at Kadri Kambla, Attavar and other places, with youngsters forming human pyramids to reach the top of the ‘Chappara’ and break the earthen pots filled with goodies, cold drinks, vegetables, cash prizes and eatables.

At Attavar, there were tableaux and tiger dance. The Okuli Team Attavar consisting of 120 Youth formed pyramids and broke the earthen pots, while 25 members of Devanga youth Association splashed water on the pyramid, to break it and give others a chance to break the pots. Children and the people who had come to witness the Mosaru Kudike were busy collecting goodies.

Speaking to mangalorean.com the president of the Okuli Team Rajesh Attavar said, “From the past four years we are taking part in the Mosaru Kudike. We have 120 members in our team and they form the human pyramid to break the earthen pots. Sometimes the youth get injured and KMC Attavar supports us by providing the Ambulance and medical assistance. Anyone being injured is treated on the spot. KMC Paramedics will be assisting us throughout the Mosaru Kudike. The Mosaru Kudike has 108 years of history and people enjoy the Mosaru Kudike. Our team members enjoy taking part in the Mosaru Kudike.”

At Kadri, thousands of people watched the Mosaru Kudike, the young and the old were seen capturing the tiger dance and tableaux on their mobile phones. The best part was the colourful tableaux that each area had organized. At Kadri, some mythological characters took the stage on the moving trucks. Huli Vesha, historical figures and many other types of masqueraders took part in the celebrations.

At Kadri grounds, a musical nite was organized by Kadri Cricketers Club. Film Star, producer and playback singer of Kollywood, Shiva Rajkumar and Dimple Queen Rachitha Ram were the chief guests. There was a huge crowd gathered around the ground to see their favourite star. Outside the entrance, people were seen requesting the bouncers to let them in, only to be disappointed at not being allowed since the seats were full.

The stage programme was inaugurated by the District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, Veerappa Moily, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, Shiva Rajkumar, Rachitha Ram and Mayor Kavitha Sanil by lighting the traditional lamp. Shiva Rajkumar, Rachitha Ram and athlete Poovamma were felicitated on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Veerappa Moily said, “Today I am very happy to be a part of this programme. Under the leadership of Corporator D K Ashok, this programme has been organized. Today Late Dr Rajkumar’s son Shiva Rajkumar is with us. Dr Rajkumar and I have attended more than 15 programmes together. Today I am sharing the stage with his son Shiva Rajkumar. Let Shiva Rajkumar and Rachitha prosper in their career.”

District Minister Ramanath Rai said, “Every year Kadri Cricketers organize such a programme during the Mosaru Kudike. Since there was no open stage to hold programmes. This year we constructed a full fledged open stage and this is the maiden programme on this stage. Last year during the Mosaru Kudike some anti social elements tried to spoil the festive mood of the people by throwing eggs but they never succeed. It is the duty of the youth to retain unity and harmony in the society. Let us all live in harmony, unity, brotherhood and let us all join hands to build a strong nation.

Minister U T Khader speaking on the occasion said, “This is the third year I am taking part in this programme. Today the Kadri Cricketers invited Shiva Rajkumar to the programme which added more glamour. Last year when I invited Shiva Rajkumar he said that he had some other work and was unable to take part but he assured to attend this year and he is here with us. With the blessings of Lord Manjunatha Shiva Rajkumar is here amidst us”.

Former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, Corporator D K Ashok, Chairman of A J Institutions A J Shetty, director of Bhandari Builders Lakshmish Bhandari and others were also present.
