StartUp India Karnataka Yatra Boot Camp at Sahyadri

 

Mangaluru: The State Government of Karnataka has decided to play an active role in promoting the Startup India initiative taken by the Prime Minister Hon’ble Narendra Modi and has teamed up with Invest India, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) and SingEx Exhibitions (India) for the Startup Karnataka Yatra.

Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management was recommended by KTECH INNOVATION HUB (NAIN) as the venue for the Boot Camp for Mangaluru region and to provide all support for a successful Karnataka Yatra by Startup India. The event was coordinated by the Sahyadri NAIN team and Team Operations.

The Startup Yatra Van was at the Sahyadri Campus. The students were presented a video regarding the startup opportunities and policies. Post this; Karandeep Singh addressed the students regarding the advantages of being an entrepreneur and the details of the Boot Camp to be organized tomorrow at Sahaydri. The camp will have an ideation workshop and then the pitching sessions. Around 69 registrations have been received for the boot camp tomorrow said Mr. Karandeep. The event was graced by Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal; Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal, Dr. Rajesha, Dean-Academics and other staff members.

The boot camp was held at Seminar Hall from 9:30 am onwards. The morning session will be for the faculty “Train the Trainers” on how to promote entrepreneurship concept in the students. Later sessions will have ideation workshop and pitching for the students and startups.

Amit Sharma, Project In-charge of StartUp India Yatra and Mr. Ashok Dabla were at the campus to facilitate the “Train the Trainer” workshop for faculty members as a part of the Boot Camp of StartUp India Karnataka Yatra organized in collaboration with K-Tech Innovation Hub, MHRDs Innovation Cell, GOI and New Age Incubation Network (NAIN). Mr. Amit Sharma works with SingEx Exhibitions India Pvt Ltd, a company owned by Singapore Government.

Key Takeaways of the Workshop:

· Set Up Entrepreneurship Eco-System by involving faculty members, engaging alumni community and encouraging students and scholars

· Assign Faculty Coordinators based on Personality/Archetype and Research Area/Core Interests

· Assign Student Leaders who are Proactive and enable the environment preferably to the students of 2nd and 3rd year

· Engage the Alumni Community – Invite Alumni from Industry for Guest Talk, Sharing experiences and motivating students and also leverage the alumni network

· Support Schemes for E-Cell – Atal Innovation Mission – Niti Ayog, MSME/BIRAC/MEITY and DST – Nidhi Programme (Nidhi Prayas)

· Situational differences in Incubator and E-Cell

He concluded the workshop by stating that he has taken this initiative to help younger generation so that they don’t have to go through the tough times of recession period what his generation went through.
