State Govt should provide Rs 50 lakh compensation to Deepak’s family – Sunil Kumar

Udupi: The Karkala MLA and chief whip of Karnataka legislative assembly Sunil Kumar on January 4, demanded that the state government provide Rs 50 lakh compensation to Hindu Activist Deepak Rao’s family. Deepak Rao was brutally murdered in Katipalla.

Sunil Kumar was speaking at a protest organized by the Udupi district BJP at Manipal Bus-stand condemning the brutal murder of Hindu activist Deepak Rao in Katipalla.

After the Siddaramaiah led Congress government came to power in Karnataka Hindu activists have continuously been killed and yesterday one more activist Deepak Rao was brutally killed in an open place. The Congress-led state government is responsible for the murders of Hindu activists in the state, Ravi said that the government is nurturing Taliban culture. 24 members of Hindu outfits were murdered after the Siddaramaiah-led government withdrew serious cases filed against the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) activists after calling a special cabinet meeting. Even though BJP consistently opposed the move, the government did not pay heed, he added.

Eying the vote bank, the Congress-led state government has developed a soft corner for Taliban and has entered into an internal agreement with communal forces which have been creating unrest in the state. Wherever the Congress MLA’s are in charge in the Coastal districts, many Hindu activists have been killed. These murders were held only because of the support of Congress MLA’s. In Karnataka, Hindus are under threat. They are scared to live in their homes and walk on the streets. They are worried about their security under the Siddaramaiah government, he said.

Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that Siddaramaiah is joining hands with anti-Hindu elements because his politics is vote bank-based and not development-based. Law and order have collapsed in Karnataka. Miscreants have killed 24 Hindu Activists but the government is quiet. He alleged that anti-nationals and terrorists were getting protection from Siddaramaiah and the State was on the way to becoming another Kerala, where Hindus had no protection.

Hindus were in danger and the killings of Hindus in Karnataka should be a wake-up call for all to come out and protest. He accused CM Siddaramaiah of protecting activists of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and said after coming to power, the Siddaramaiah-led government had withdrawn cases against PFI and KFD activists.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, former Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, District BJP Chief Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, ZP president Dinakar Babu, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Rajesh Kaveri, Kuthayaru Naveen Shetty, Reshma Uday Shetty, Shyamala Kundar, Suresh Nayak, Nayana Ganesh and others were present.
