State Govt trying to Destroy Law and Order Celebrating Tipu Jayanti – Kota Srinivas Poojary
Udupi: Legislative council Opposition leader Kota Srinivas Poojary alleged that the state government was trying to destroy law and order in the state by celebrating Tipu Jayanti. He was speaking to media persons in Udupi on Monday, November 5.
The CONGRESS-JDS coalition government in Karnataka has decided to carry on with the practice of celebrating the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan, on November 10. I have written a letter to the chief minister and requested the state government not to observe Tipu Jayanti. Tipu Sultan was an “anti-Hindu” who had slaughtered many Hindus in Mysore and Coorg.
Earlier, the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah had started celebrating Tippu Jayanti. This had led to Clashes in the state as a result of which the people of Karnataka rejected the Congress party in the recent elections.
Chief Minister Kumaraswamy should not try to celebrate Tipu Jayanti again. If the state government celebrates Tipu Jayanti, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch severe protests throughout the state, “he said.
“I condemn the state government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, He was anti-Hindu and anti-Kannada and there is no need to celebrate the Jayanti of a tyrant. I have instructed the state chief secretary not to add the name of any BJP leaders including me in the invitations for the Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the state.”
