Manipal: “The Government of Karnataka has given clearance to setup KSRTC intercity bus stand in Moodanidambur,” said Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Dr R Vishal at a press meet held at his office in Rajathadri, here on May 4.
The JNURM intercity buses will operate from the Moodanidambur near the city bus stand. The State government has given approval for State Marine Training Institute to train coastal police at Tottam, a 24.10 acre land is reserved for the same.
An Elite district library will be setup in a 20 cents land near Ajjarkadu in Udupi. A 2 storey building will have a computer library and a centre to train students to face competitive examinations. The estimated cost of the building is Rs 5.18 crores. Two library branches are already setup in Manupalla and Bailoor. Another two branches will be setup in Kundapur and Saligrama.
‘Clean beach, My Beach, Malpe Beach, Safe Beach’ is a slogan adopted to promote tourism in Malpe beach. A foundation stone will be laid for 4 projects worth Rs 15 lakh. A fully fledged auto stand will be constructed near the Maple Beach.
Hastha Shilpa (Manipal Heritage Village) managed by Hastha Shilpa Trust will be opened to the public. 15 persons in a team will be allowed to visit the Heritage Village. Two visits will be organized, one in the morning between 10 am to 12 pm and other in the evening between 3 pm to 5 pm. Interested visitors can book their visits on in.bookmyshow.com. The visit will be open to 8 structures and exteriors. Public viewing of the Manipal Heritage Village will be held on a trial basis.
The Malpe Development Committee will organise ‘Jalaothsav-2016’ at the Maple Beach from May 7 to May 8. Surfing, kayaking, stand up paddle, speed boat, banana ride, parasailing, rock climbing and other water sports will be organised. A mass yoga programme, swimming competition for specially abled persons, throw ball, tug of war, sand sculpture, live music, dance performance are also planned.
Speaking about other issues, the DC said, “23 sand clusters are recognized in CRZ area for sand mining. 63 people have bben issued permits for sand mining in the CRZ area. The task force is effectively making every necessary effort to supply drinking water. Rainfall is expected during the end of the May month.”
