Statements of Both Sides Contradict Each Other in Quraishi Case – H D Kumaraswamy

Mangaluru: “In Manglauru Ahmed Quraishi was assaulted. I have heard both the versions. His brother said that Quraishi was arrested on March 21 but not produced before the court until March 27. The police are saying that when we had arrested Quraishi, he informed us that he is suffering from kidney ailment. There is a mistake from the police officers too. I will discuss this issue in the council.” said the state president of JD(S) H D Kumaraswamy in a press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl here on April 17.

Addressing the mediapersons Kumaraswamy said, “If Quraishi was arrested on March 21, why was he not produced before the court till March 27. Police say that on March 25, Quraishi had met with an accident. When a person is in police custody how can he meet with an accident? This shows that the senior police officers do not have control over the junior police officers. After knowing that he is suffering from kidney problems the police have used third degree on him. In the name of law and order, there are atrocities, who is responsible for this? The statements of both sides contradict each other, truth should come out and justice should be done.” he stressed.

Kumaraswamy also said, “In the state, there is drought and Drinking water crisis but the government has failed to address the problems. All the ministers are busy in the by-election campaign and the state government has failed to address the problems faced by the people. The ministers are not showing any interest to solve the drinking water problems in the state”.

JD(S) State General Secretary B M Farookh, former MLA Amarnath Shetty, District JD(S) president Mohammed Kunhi, Aziz Parthipady and others were also present.
