Stock Exchange Ex-President Krishna Avatar Jalan Passes away
Mangaluru: Reputed city-based businessman and community leader Krishna Avatar Jalan (78), passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 2:15 p.m. at his residence in Kodialguthu East in the city.
He had been ailing for some time from a severe lung infection and had even been admitted to a hospital. He is survived by son Sudhir and three daughters Sangeetha, Sandhya and Seema. His wife Veena had predeceased by about two years.
Krishna Avatar Jalan was a successful entrepreneur who made a mark in the world of business in Mangalore. Hailing from North India, he had migrated to Mangalore in the year 1960 at the young age of 19 years and made the city his home. He ran a logistics company Vishnu Transport and Vishnu Enterprises. He was also an Indianoil dealer and a bulk transporter of petroleum products for the company.
He had served as the President of the erstwhile Mangalore Stock Exchange Ltd., and also Rotary Club Mangalore. He had served as District Secretary of Rotary and was a recipient of the ‘Service Above Self Award’.
He was an active leader of the local Rajasthani community, having been a Founder member and Past President of Rajasthan Sabha. He was a managing trustee of Divya Shakthi Dham, a prayer hall which functions from close to his home.
His funeral will take place on Friday, January 25th at 2:30 p.m. Prior to that his mortal remains will be placed at his residence ‘Veena Krishna’, situated at 4th Cross, Kodialguthu East for last respects.
