Stone Pelting at B C Road during Procession of Sharath’s Mortal Remains
Mangaluru: The mortal remains of RSS worker who died on July 7, after he was brutally assaulted on July 4 night while closing his Laundry Shop were taken in a procession on July 8.
On July 8 morning while the mortal remains of Sharath were taken to his hometown in a procession, near Melkar, miscreants started pelting stones at shops and vehicles. As the situation began to get worse, police resorted to lathi charge.
Already section 144 is in place in B C Road, in spite of the Section in place the BJP and Sangh Parivar staged a protest “B C Road Chalo” on July 7. On July 8 hundreds of BJP and Sangh Parivar members gathered in front of the A J Hospital Mortuary. Later the mortal remains were taken in a procession to his hometown Sajipamunnur.
It is learnt that while the members of the Sangh Parivar were taking out the mortal remains of Sharath from the vehicle there was some misunderstanding and exchange of words between police and the activists. To control the situation the police resorted to Lathi charge. At the time of Lathi charge, pelting of stones was reported.
In the incident, one person has been injured and he was rushed to the hospital. One auto and other vehicles also damaged.
