Strict Action against Cattle Traffickers and Troublemakers During Bakrid, District Admin Develops ‘Live Stock Logistic’ App for information on Cattle Transport – DC Sasikanth
Mangaluru: “Strict action will be taken against those who take the law into their hands and assault people suspecting of cattle trafficking. Muslim brethren celebrate Bakrid on August 12 and the district administration expects that the festival is celebrated in harmony”, said the Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil in a press meet held at the DC office here on August 6.
Addressing the mediapersons DC Sasikanth said, “In Dakshina Kannada, people understand the religious sentiments of people belonging to other faith. We should allow the Muslim community to celebrate Bakrid peacefully. There are cases of cattle trafficking during Bakrid but the district administration is monitoring the illegal activities. If anyone finds any suspicious activities of cattle trafficking or illegal slaughtering of cattle, they can contact us by calling 1077 or 100. The district administration will not tolerate anyone taking the law into their hands”.
DC Senthil further said, “To solve the problem of cattle trafficking and illegal slaughtering, the district administration has developed a “Live Stock Logistic”, app. One can download the app and send us information about transporting cattle. This app does not give permission for transporting cattle but should be used to inform about the cattle being transported. In the coming days, we will be able to control the transport of cattle through GPS fitted in vehicles. Those transporting Cattle should upload the documents related to it along with photographs. We have already invited persons involved in transporting cattle and discussed using the app”.
DC Senthil also said, “It is not mandatory to provide information but those transporting cattle have demanded to have an app to collect necessary information on transporting cattle. The concerned officials will get all the necessary information on the transportation of cattle through the app. This app will help those transporting cattle legally. From August 7, this app will be available for those transporting cattle. The app will be available for download within two days on google play”.
Speaking to the mediapersons SP of DK Laxmi Prasad said, “In Dakshina Kannada, during Bakrid police will be deployed 24 hours for patrolling. If there are any complaints the police will immediately respond and take action. In the district 6 cases of cattle theft have been registered and 5 of the cattle have been traced. 19 cases of Cattle theft and 12 cases of illegal slaughtering have been registered in various police stations. We have called 89 persons having criminal records and warned them not to take the law into their hands”.
MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir was also present.
