Striker Tevez leaves Shanghai Shenhua for Boca Juniors
Buenos Aires, Jan 6 (IANS) Argentine striker Carlos Tevez has rejoined his former football club Boca Juniors after parting ways with China’s Shanghai Shenhua.
Boca posted an image on its website showing the 33-year-old training with his new teammates at the club’s Los Cardales complex on Friday, reports Xinhua news agency.
“Carlos Tevez, who was already in Argentina…after ending his contract with the Asian club, joined the Boca squad on Friday,” the Buenos Aires side said.
Details about the length of the contract and the transfer fee were not given.
Tevez scored just once in 16 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua in 2017 after joining the club from Boca on a two-year deal in December 2016.
Capped 76 times for Argentina’s national team, Tevez’s career has also included spells at Corinthians, West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus.
He rejoined his boyhood club Boca in June 2015 and helped the team win the league title six months later.
Boca currently lead Argentina’s first division standings with 30 points from 12 matches, three points ahead of second-placed San Lorenzo.
