Stringent action to be initiated against Immoral policing: SP Dr Sanjeev Patil during Phone-in programme

Udupi: “Stringent action will be initiated against those who are involved in violence in the name of moral policing”, said the District Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Patil IPS. He was speaking during the phone-in programme held at the District Police Office here on September 23.

The boys and girls can mingle and go together, no one is permitted to interfere in the personal lives of other people. If they are minors then their guardians/parents will take care of them. If any students are found to be creating a ruckus in public places then the people should approach the police, no one should take the law into their hands. If anyone is found involved in violence in the name of immoral policing then effective action will be taken. The police have initiated beat facilities in tourist places.

People should avail loan from cooperative societies and government prescribed money lending associations rather than falling prey to the people who lend money at exorbitant interest rates. A caller urged the police to take effective action against people who lend money at exorbitant interest rates. Dr Patil said that the department has initiated steps against people who lend money with very high-interest rates.

A woman caller said that the society named Amar Jeevan has been torturing her by not returning the money paid by her to the society. SP directed her to approach the DySP Kundapur.

Another caller said that beggars are causing inconvenience to the devotees visiting tourist places in Udupi. SP said that a drive has been initiated and necessary action will be taken. 15 people have been detained for begging in Kollur. 10 people involved in begging are sent to their homes and 5 are sent to the rehabilitation centres.

Another caller said that vehicles are parked on Hebri road leading to a traffic jam in the city, SP said that he will take appropriate action.

Another caller urged the SP to initiate strict action against the bus operators for using shrill horns. SP said that 1000 cases have been booked against the bus operators for using shrill horns.

SP also said that an effective drive has been launched to eliminate drugs and the sale of narcotics. He also said that parents should advise students on following traffic rules while riding motorbikes. 25 calls focusing on buses and gambling were received in 1 hour.

Agree with SP – Any attempt involving physical threats, assault and property damage should be dealt with zero tolerance. This has nothing to do with free speech.
