Student Gang Raped by Collegemates, Circulate Video of Intimate Act on WhatsApp, 5 Arrested

Student Gang Raped by Collegemates, Circulate Video of Intimate Act on WhatsApp, Five Arrested

Puttur: A college girl was gang-raped by her own collegemates who recorded and circulated the video on WhatsApp group.

According to the police, during the last week of March 2019 at around 3:30 pm, a Puttur College Student, Sunil asked the victim to come near his car as she wanted to talk to her. When the victim came near the car Sunil, Prajwal and Prakrath forced her into the car and took her to a remote area while giving her a drug-laced drink. Later they raped her and also captured the intimate act on their mobile. The accused recently circulated the video on WhatsApp group.

After raping the girl, the accused threatened her with life if she reveals the incident to anyone. They also threatened to circulate the video on social media.

On July 3, a Suo Moto case has been registered under section 341, 376 (D) R/W 34 IPC and 3(1) (W)(1)(11),3(3)(V) SC/ST PA Amendment Act 2015 R/W 66 E, 67A IT Act in the Puttur Women’s police station.

Special teams have been formed to nab the accused. The SP has said that the accused will be arrested soon.

The video of the intimate act is circulating in the social media and a case has been registered against the one who has circulated it.

The SP of Dakshina Kannada Laxmi Prasad has issued a statement saying, “It has come to notice that two videos of a girl and boys engaging in an intimate act in a blue coloured car are being circulated through WhatsApp. The Police will be taking up a suo-motu case in this regard. We request the public not to transmit the referred videos over the social media or save the referred videos on their phones/computers etc, doing so is an offense under 354C of IPC and 66E, 66A of IT Act and the persons (including the group admins) will be held responsible under the said sections”.
