Student Loses Life trying to Rescue Friend from Drowning
Sullia: A PUC student lost his life when he tried to rescue his friend from drowning in the Ubaradka pond here on October 13.
The deceased has been identified as Yashwit from Sullia.
According to sources, on October 13 afternoon Yashwit along with three other friends had gone to the Ubaradka pond for swimming. While swimming Kiran lost balance, fell to the deeper of the pond and cried for help. Yashwit along with the other two friends succeeded in rescuing Kiran from drowning. While rescuing Kiran, Yashwit slipped and fell into the water.
Yashwit was screaming for help, his friends without knowing to swim also screamed for help, they ran to a nearby house and informed about the incident and requested help, but it was too late Yashwit had already drowned.
As the news spread, the Panchayat president and members, elected representatives and student leaders reached the spot. The Sullia police also reached the spot and lifted the body from the pond and sent it for post-mortem.
Yashwit was the son of Harish Gowda an auto driver by profession.
