Student Nurses of Father Muller College of Nursing outshine in RGUHS examinations
Mangaluru: The Students of Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) have outshined themselves in the September 2019 Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences examinations. The results which were released a week ago stand testimony to the dedication of the faculty/staff and the hard work of the students in attaining academic excellence with 66 distinctions and 315 first classes.
Rev. Sr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal of the Father Muller College of Nursing; felt elated and proud of the staff and students feat in attaining 98.97% results in all the academic years ( 4 academic years) of the nursing school and college, with 100% result in M.Sc courses. Dr Devina E. Rodrigues, Vice Principal, FMCON; too wished the very best for the students and faculty for bringing laurels to the college. The PB B.Sc has secured 100% result this academic year.
Sr Jacintha D’Sousa explained saying, ” Our classroom teaching is more focused on student-centred strategy and gives equal participation of students and teachers in the learning process. We adopt innovative teaching methods which are decided at the beginning of the year so that teachers have ample time to prepare themselves to deliver their best. The feedback at the end of introducing a new teaching methodology is taken from the students that have taken into consideration in further accepting, adopting, refining or rejecting the specific teaching methodology to learn a particular subject matter. All that facilitated a great impact right from the time of sessional examinations to excel in academics. The collaborative efforts by all the faculties have brought about this result. The regular parent-teachers meet has borne fruit too. Regular updates of the student’s academic and well being are discussed at length in such meets. This allows for growth of the student and the institution too”.
Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, Director of the Father Muller Charitable institutions, conveyed his best wishes to the college and prayed that the students fare well in life too. Rev Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, expressed his joy on these results and said that a wise and smart nurse is the backbone to a healthcare system.
FMCON has its roots from 1987 which now caters in Post Basic Nursing (PB B.Sc), Basic Nursing (B.Sc), Masters in Nursing (M.Sc) and PhD in Nursing.
