‘Summer of 69’ Canadian Rocker Bryan Adams for a Live Gig in Bengaluru on Oct 13
- ‘Summer of 69’ Fame Canadian Rocker Bryan Adams in Bengaluru on Oct 13 for a Live Gig at ‘Ozone Urbana’ located on NH 17 near Bengaluru International Airport
Mangaluru: No matter how old “Summer of ’69” song is, it is still a number one popular song around the world, and even in Mangaluru, where Dj’s at pubs, Beat groups during a wedding function, or rockers performing it during the live gig, have it on their playlist. Singer-songwriter Bryan Adams is as big a fan of India as India is of his soft rock music. So, now that he is back for another multi-city musical journey with his Ultimate Tour, fans are waiting with baited breath. The tour will continue through October with Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and New Delhi as stops.
Since this is a longer tour, sources reveal that there have been talks of Adams bringing his wife Alicia Grimaldi and daughters Mirabella Bunny Adams and Lula Rosylea Adams-because when musicians go on longer tours like this one, they like to take their family along, and for that matter the entire Adams family love India. After all, the Canadian legend has come to India four times already, since his 1995 tour. I can’t wait to see my favorite rocker in India, even though I have seen him perform live in Chicago-USA twice in 2005 and 2011- and his concerts are always a memory keepsake- and once I see this concert in Bengaluru-India, this would make my 200th live concert in 24 years, in USA and in India (watch out for my exclusive report on concert experience during this week).
Yes, Bryan Adams will be visiting India in October for a multi-city tour, but this wouldn’t nearly be his first one. His 2018 gig will be his fifth in India, during which he is expected to perform Ultimate, a compilation of 21 of his songs, which released in November 2017. The tour is being produced by Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL) with Infibeam Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The “Summer of 69” singer and songwriter speaking to media had said that India is one of his favourite places. Not only did he wish his Indian fans a Happy Independence Day but he also said that he had experienced an immense amount of “love and generosity” in India.
Bryan Adams will kick off the tour on October 9, 2018, at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, from where he’ll head to Hyderabad’s Hitex Exhibition Centre on October 11, then in Mumbai’s Jio Garden on October 12 and at Ozone Urbana in Bengaluru on 13. The tour will come to an end in Delhi’s Leisure Valley Park on October 14, 2018. The tickets are available on Bookmyshow.com, with varying prices for each city. It is learnt that Adams’ album Ultimate is a compilation of his older hit tracks mixed with his new songs. These include his Five live albums, 13 studio albums, 5 compilation albums and more than 75 singles, which have all been put together. Ultimate Love, Cloud Number Nine, Summer of 69, 18 Till I Die, Cuts Like a Knife and You Belong to Me are a few of the songs from Ultimate you now have the chance to listen to – live!
Bryan Adams music is Good Music, like good wine that never gets old! After listening to his songs countless times and knowing every single lyric, I am ready to rock with my buddies at the Bengaluru Concert on 13 October, and I have always loved his music because there is something about his voice. It doesn’t get old no matter how many age lines he wears on his face. Good wine and good music get better with age they say. Whoever said that was surely listening to Bryan Adams at the time.
His is voice, his style, his passion and his presence leaves the crowd thirsty for more. His fan following extends right from us commoners (happily guarding our spots in the first 10 rows) to celebrities, tapping their feet in their satin covered chairs with dinner plates. I am sure that during his forthcoming gig, the playlist will comprise of his all-time favorites extending from Heaven to Cloud No.9 and from Summer of ‘69 to Cuts Like A Knife. But I would love to hear him sing the most memorable of his hits, the genius rendition of “Straight from the Heart” – and not to forget “Everything I do, I Do It For You”, which is yet another of my favourite- and I am sure the IT crowd in Bengaluru will surely lit the evening sky with the lights from their smartphones.
Yes, I know that Indians, even Mangaloreans just love Bryan Adams; that is, if the playlists at the nation’s bars are anything to go by. It’s therefore little surprise that he is the only international artiste to perform in India for the fifth time, where I am sure his concert will promise plenty of anthemic singalongs, audience participation, claps and woots. Born on the fifth of November, 1959 and hailing from Ontario, Canada, Bryan Adams is no doubt the best selling Canadian rock artist of all time. With over 100 million records sold over nearly 40 years in show business, he’s still at the top of his game. His is music that transcends culture and language, and that makes him one of very few musicians in pop history to truly realize the universal qualities of rock and roll, and that’s saying something.
“Summer of ‘69”? “Heaven”? “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”? It would take someone with a heart of stone not to love those songs, from his primal, party-starting rockers to his elegant, tear-jerking ballads. In all, what Adams has achieved is shown in how people all around the world have embraced his music. Quite simply, he’s still playing and writing some of the best rock and roll music that the great white north has ever had to offer to this day, and there’s never been a better time to join in than right now.
Having witnessed two of his gigs in Chicago, What makes a Bryan Adams show so great? So many things, for sure, as it is a testament that I am willing to travel Bengaluru in few days to see this man perform. I love the simplicity and focus on music, love the tee shirt jeans look with his guitar up front, then opening his voice is just like a door into paradise. I will be one of the thousands in mid-age where something men/women who have followed BA since the early 1980’s and have high expectations of going to any one of his shows and for me the one memory that sicks is the show I went to twice in the US, where I had paid big dollars to have front row seats for me and my ???, and Bryan spoke to me… I was sure that in that moment if I HAD DIED I would have been as happy as I could be.

And one thing for sure, during his live concert, from start to finish his continuous hits and his best songs will simply keep you on your feet- and Bryan knows how to entertain his audience and his lead guitarist is second to none. Trust me, Bryan Adams gigs are great shows because the Bengaluru concert will not be the first time I am seeing Bryan and it won’t be the last either.
