‘Summer of ’69’ Fame Canadian Singer Bryan Adams Rocks Bluru with Songs ‘Straight From His Heart’

Mangaluru: Bryan Guy Adams, aged 58, the Canadian singer, songwriter, record producer, guitarist, photographer, philanthropist and activist was back in India for the Fifth time, and Yours Truly of Team Mangalorean was there for His Bengaluru gig on Saturday, 13 October night, joined by bunch of Mangalorean music buffs and fans of Bryan Adams. Bryan who has toured India four times in 2005, 2001, 2003 and 2011, returned to sing his golden oldies “Summer of ’69”, “18 Till I Die”, “Straight From My Heart”, “When you’re gone”, “Cloud number 9”, “Brand new day” “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”, “Heaven” among other songs. His five-city tour began in Ahmedabad on Oct. 09), then moving to Hyderabad on 11 Oct, Mumbai on 12 Oct, Bengaluru on 13 Oct, and ended in New Delhi on 14 Oct.. And for that matter, Indians love Bryan Adams because ‘Summer of 69’ has become a Hindi song now!

Adams is one of several international acts that had their heyday in the 1990’s and 2000’s but still enjoy immense popularity in India. His gig at Ozone Urbana, located on Bangalore Airport Road was lined up with the support of the music veteran’s current 21-Track compilations “Ultimate”, which was released in November 2017. With a Bengaluru crowd of over 15,000, who grooved to his chart-busters, Bryan’s fifth concert is aimed at to be one of the biggest productions of the year. The concert in Bengaluru began with an opening act by India’s own Adith Singh Sharma.

After singing bunch of his tracks, but the audience waited with bated breath for one special song and went into a tizzy as Bryan Adams strummed to his ever-popular track “Summer Of ’69”. An over-enthusiastic audience also cheered along as Bryan Adams sang the all-time fan favourite “A Night To Remember”, followed by “Straight From My Heart”. During the concert, he even remembered his father and dedicated his performance to him.( The YouTube of the song “Straight From My Heart” in which before singing the song he tells about his childhood days, his family and India tour) It was a magical night as Bangaloreans also sang along to Bryan Adam’s “18 Till I Die”. But the magic unfolded when the audience revisited the “Summer Of ’69” with Bryan Adams.

While a large number of fans were capturing the concert moments on their Smartphones, few were twitting and sending messages- there were girls and boys in T-shirts with crazy slogans like – one T-shirt wore by a young lass read “Hey Bryan, How about a ’69 with Me this Summer”. Bad Girl! Even Bryan Adams had shared a glimpse of his concert on Instagram, thanking fans for all the love: “We won’t come down tonight, thank you Bengaluru, India. Tonight in Bengaluru, was hot! And so was the gig. Thanks, everyone.”

The pop star, hugely popular in the 90’s especially for “Summer Of 69,” is known for his love of India. The Rockstar was looking cool in his famous black glasses and a black shirt, with Ultimate logo. Adams was joined by other singers like Harshdeep in Mumbai and New Delhi as the official opening acts, Aditi Sharma in Bengaluru, Rushil Ranjan feat Abi Sampa in Ahmedabad and Threeory Band in Hyderabad. From playing his rock anthems and love songs to crooning “Kiki do you love me” to expressing his “Ultimate love” for India, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Bryan Adams took Bengaluru music lovers on a rock and roll joyride with his music while playing at the Ozone Urbana.

With the rock and roll beats and groovy tunes from his guitar, Adams seamlessly took the audience back in time with his classics “Can’t stop this thing we’ve started” and “Run to you”, which segued into the theme of the evening. Featuring an over-sized video wall rolling lyrics and self-portrait black and white as well as colour videos with monochrome lighting, the night brought together people from all walks of life to sway and swoon to the music filled with nostalgia. Adams, like a wizard, had a control over the appreciative crowd as he sang “You belong to me”, and the audience followed his instructions to put their best dancing foot forward.

From the 26-song set to few of his songs the crowd sang along with him, who in turn appreciated the audience and said “it’s first class singing. I love it”. Apart from uniting people with strings of music, Adams created a connection with the audience, by interacting with them from the stage. He also captured various moments from the evening on his mobile phone. The music icon ended his performance on an emotional note. Even though I have seen Bryan Adams twice in Chicago-USA a few years ago, it was indeed fun to rock with my desi/Kudla hometown buddies at the Bengaluru gig, where I brought home sweet memories of a concert which I was longing so long to see in India.
