Survivor 2019 Liberator Award Presented by Activist Harold D’Souza

USA: “Victims of human trafficking can be white, black or brown like me” spoke Honorable Harold D’Souza at the 2019 Liberator Awards ceremony at Sylvania, Ohio.

The Liberator Awards were created by S.O.A.P. (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) to unite people from around the state who are working for the same cause: fighting human trafficking. They were also created with the hopes of highlighting the work of amazing individuals and groups. Everyone will tell you: this is hard stuff to do. We should diligently celebrate those who do it not because it is easy, but because it is right. The inspiration and namesake for this event is William Lloyd Garrison.

Harold D’Souza was awarded the prestigious 2017 Liberator Award at Columbus, Ohio. Notably, Honorable Harold D’Souza has been appointed to the historic United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking at The White House, by President Donald J. Trump.

William Lloyd Garrison (December 12, 1805 – May 24, 1879) was a prominent American abolitionist, journalist, suffragist, and social reformer. He is best known as the editor of the first abolitionist newspaper, The Liberator. He promoted immediate emancipation of slaves in the United States. In the 1870s, Garrison also became a prominent voice for the women’s suffrage movement.

Theresa Flores is the founder of The SOAP Project and the Liberator Awards. All survivors of human trafficking are deserving for their extreme courage. This award is for a survivor who leads the charge in education, sacrifice and rising above her or his situation to become a force of change.

Amy Deverson Roberts S.O.A.P. Board Member said; “Harold – you are amazing and inspire me! I am so honoured to know you”.

If you or someone you know is a victim of Human Trafficking in America, please call:

Survivors smiling doesn’t mean the trauma never existed. It means the trauma no more controls our lives said Harold. Children of victims are invisibly traumatized more than the survivors, just as children exposed to passive smoking.
