Suzlon Employees Protest against Suspension without Prior Notice
Udupi: Around 780 contract employees of Suzlon Company staged a protest outside the company’s office on Monday, April 10 against the suspension of the employees without advance notice.
The Suzlon Company which is operating in Padubidri had hired workers on contract basis for Unitech and SSPL Agency. As usual, on Monday morning, the employees attended their duty but the company officials denied to give the attendance book and informed that all 780 employees were suspended.
Employees being upset over the company’s sudden decision without any notice decided to protest in front of the company. The workers held a day-long hunger strike demanding justice.
In the evening Ravi Shetty president of Karnataka Karmika Rakshana Vedike Udupi district visited the spot and joined the protesters. He demanded that the company officials meet the protesters.
Later Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake also visited the spot and held a meeting with the company officials and also with the deputy commissioner and labour department officials. He urged the company officials to revoke the suspension of all the 780 employees. If the company fails to take back the employees by Tuesday, we will continue our protest, he warned.
Company officials Ashok Shetty, Philip Antony, Daksinamoorthy, Kishore, Local leaders Naveenchandra J Shetty, Vishwas Ameen and others were present.
