Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan Completes 27 Weeks

Mangaluru: Twenty-seventh week of 5 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, 9th April 2017 at 5 different locations in the city.

322 Pandeshwar – The employees of Forum Fiza mall joined in the cleanliness drive at Pandeshwar. In the presence of convener of the Abhiyan, Swami Ekagamyanandaji, Manoj Singh and Sunil K S jointly flagged off the drive. About 100 volunteers were divided into four groups. The area opposite Corporation Bank and the circle, path leading from Nehru Circle to A B Shetty Circle, road leading to clock tower were cleaned. Under the guidance of Suresh Shetty, a team picked the garbage and plastic papers. Another team under Umanath Kotekar cleaned the road dividers off the grass and weeds. Team of volunteers under Mahboob removed the illegal posters and banners in the vicinity. Dilraj Alva and Ashwith Kumar Shetty coordinated the team.

323 Karnataka Polytechnic – The NSS Students of the Karnataka Polytechnic have been actively conducting Swacchata Abhiyan for the past 10 weeks and the same got concluded on 9th April. NSS Coordinators of KPT, Pratiksha and Jitesh flagged off the drive. The cleaned the road in front of KPT and the footpath. They also removed the garbage from the adjoining drain. Using tipper, they removed heaps of garbage from the premises of the KPT. The nameplate of Karnataka polytechnic that was worn out was dismantled and a new one was set up at the location.

Concluding Programme: The concluding programme of the 10 drives by KPT was organized at Ramakrishna Mission. Swami Dharmavratanandaji distributed certificates to the students who participated in the past 10 drives. Coordinators, Rajendra and Ankush Kumar shared their experiences. Swami Ekagamyanandaji thanked the gathering.

324 Padil- The members of Swacch Padil carried out the drive near Railway Under Pass Bridge and Bus shelter. Bharat Kumar Jalligudda and Vaman Kottari flagged off the drive. The area from Padil Bajal cross to Kankanady Railway Station was cleaned along with the road. Low lying area in front of the bus shelter was filled up and levelled thus helping the public.

325 Vaidyanath Nagar – The Members of Rotary Club Deralakatte took up the drive in Vaidyanath Nagar. N T Ramachandra Nayak and Purushottam Anchan flagged off the drive. They cleaned the main roads of the area and removed the weeds from roadsides. Panchayat member Suresh Shetty, Vidya Maniyani, Bhaskar Maniyani and others participated in the drive. Vikram Datta coordinated the team.

326 Ganeshpura – The members of JCI took up the drive in Ganeshpura Circle and in the vicinity of the bus shelter. Subrahmanya Rao and Haeshendra Palan flagged off the drive. The bus shelter was also renovated and painted. Ravikanth, Prashnath Nayak, Sumitra Gautham and Sandesh others participated in the drive.

Swacch Manas Awareness Programmes: 

Corporate Trainer Dr Vivek Modi visited Mangalore on invitation from Mangalore Ramakrishna Mission. He addressed the students and youths of some institutions under the theme, “Swacch Manas” under the auspices of Ramakrishna Mission.

3rd April – Dr Modi Interacted with the students on the topic, “Tackling the monkey mind”. Dr Devaraj, Director of the institute, Deepa Nayak and several other students attended the session.

4th April – Dr Modi addressed the students of Justice K S Hegde Management Institute at Nitte on the topic, “True Success” at 9:00 am. Dr Sudhir Raj, Director of the institute presided the session.

He addressed about 500 students of Alvas Institute of Technology at Moodbidre at 4 pm on the 4tH April on the topic, “Growing Right Way”. Dr Peter Fernandes, Dr Vineetha Shetty and more than 500 students attended the session.

5th April – Dr Modi interacted with the students and faculty of Sahyadri Management College at Adyar, on the topic, “Character & Career” at 10 am. Dr Manjunath Bhandary, Dr Umesh Bhushi and others were present.
