Swachh Mangaluru Abused- Even Cops Dirty Their Surroundings?
Mangaluru: Drive or walk-by the road leading from Nanthur Circle towards Kadri Chef, you’ll notice a police booth- more than that you’ll see a pile of garbage comprising of left over food, plastic bags, food containers, empty water bottles etc. One would wonder who would do such a mess, thereby abusing Swacch Mangaluru Campaign undertaken by MCC, and several organisations including Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission- Guess who? It’s the government servants aka Police? Now that the cleaning campaign has been stopped by the volunteers of Ramakrishna Math, one can witness garbage scattered here and there, including this spot near the police booth.
But being the responsible citizens of Mangaluru, our beloved city cops should think before they discard their waste in their surroundings. To make matters worse, these garbage-filled spots are potentially more dangerous than the black spots on street corners or the roadside. The garbage found in this specific area and ends up serving as a fostering ground for rodents, snakes, mosquitoes and stray dogs. This uncollected garbage near this police booth in days will pile up and will be a welcome sign to mosquitoes and other creatures.
When Team Mangalorean enquired the cops readily agreed that the garbage belonged to them, and since they had no other option to discard the garbage in a garbage bin, they had to throw it behind the booth. I feel many garbage piles come up because of the lack of dustbins. Why doesn’t the police department install dustbins in this area? Hope this report will bring a change- and hopefully, the concerned police department will clean the mess around this police booth and place a garbage bin at the earliest. Thank you!
it should come from you within ! the changes to come from home !! dirty things doing is become our part of life including bribing this is a national agenda !! it wont go from us ! unless every individual change !
