Swachatha Abused! Pile of Garbage Lying Right in front of BJP Election Campaign Office near Bunts Hostel/Kadri Road
Mangaluru: We all know that Swacch Bharat Abhiyan was launched on 2nd October 2014, an initiative by PM Narendra Modi to keep the street of the cities hence the country clean. PM was wanted to make his dream come true on the 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 Oct 2019. Lots and lots of funds have been spent on promoting and implementing the idea. The idea is about to encourage the citizens of the nation to participate in the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan which is quite good. But by the way things are going on, Swachhata is yet to reach to its highest level, even though a bunch of organizations, institutions are trying their best for the cleanliness of India.
But, instead of wasting too much funds in promoting Swach Bharat Abhiyan, the government could have spent some amount of funds for the people associated with the cleanliness since decades. Government could have considered Dalits and other section of the people in the promotions. That might have helped them to regain their respect in society and the job of cleanliness could have not been tough for them. They might have become the role model for the cleanliness. But the sad part is that on one side, the BJP politicians are trying to promote their leader’s Swachh Bharath Abhiyan, and on the other hand are neglecting what’s happening about cleanliness right in front of their eyes.
And here we an example right here in Mangaluru- just look at the garbage piled up in front of the BJP election Campaign office, located near Bunts Hostel/Kadri Road. This shows total abuse towards the Abhiyan and proves how serious are our Netas and the government about the cleanliness drive. However, it is unfortunate that in India we had to initiate a campaign such as Swachh Bharat. This Abhiyan had taken a lot of time and effort of many important persons in India. It has caused an expenditure. This would not have happened if India was maintained as clean as they do in the western countries or Singapore or Japan. So much of media time had to be used.
The campaign is a voluntary one. It is not compulsory. So everyone need not understand and implement the recommendations of the campaign. It is a slow process. It may take years to achieve good results. Whatever good results are obtained, it is still worth appreciating. The Abhiyan has no way of punishing those bodies who are throwing waste and polluting natural resources. It only believes in the change of mentality of the people in the future. It is very uncomfortable to do those activities directly, as they are not done automatically. I guess the Abhiyaan involves a lot of physical effort- and it looks like that this garbage in front of BJP election Campaign office is waiting for the volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission to do the cleaning as part of their “Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan?
