Swami Ekagamyananda Inaugurates Pilinalike Season 6

Mangaluru: The Pilinalike Season 6 was inaugurated at the Volleyball grounds, Mangala Stadium here on October 7.

The programme was inaugurated by the convener of Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan, Swami Ekagamyananda by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering Swami Ekagamyananda said, “I would like to congratulate Mithun Rai for holding this traditional dance form of Tulunadu. Today when Mithun Rai called me to attend this programme, I immediately agreed. For the past 5 years, I am organizing the Swacch Mangaluru programme, and it was possible because of your support and co-operation. If people would have taken this drive in a political angle it wouldn’t have been possible.”

Swamiji further said, “We had thought that it was not possible to clean the fruit and vegetable market but we did it, and it was possible because of the unity of the people of Mangaluru.  Last Sunday, we cleaned 90% of the market and people from all walks of life joined hands to clean the market. There was a wrong notion in people’s minds, but we all are one. There are differences and will always be, but the differences should not be politicized. Let the Goddess Chamundeshwari eliminate bad spirits from among us and inculcate the good habits in us.  I wish the organizers all the very best and let the Goddess Chamundeshwari bless Mithun Rai and Dr Shivasharan Shetty to continue their good work.”

An audio CD of “Kudkana Madme” was released by Mithun Rai and former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Sashidhar Hegde said, “From the past 6 years Mithun Rai and Dr Shivasharan Shetty are organizing the Pili Nalike which is a successful annual event. Tiger dance is a popular art of Tulunadu and people have gathered here in large numbers. Pilinalike is not only popular in Mangaluru but now it is popular worldwide. I congratulate Mithun Rai and Dr Shivasharan for keeping the tiger dance alive.”

Former Mayor Bhaskar and former corporator Praveenchandra Alva also spoke on the occasion.
