Kazan (Russia), July 27 (IANS) Indian swimmer Mandar Anand Rao Divase had a dismal outing at the World Championships as he ended the open water men’s 10 km race in 69th and last position at the Kazanka Venue here on Monday.
The race was won by American Jordan Wilimovsky in 1 hour, 49 minutes and 48.2 seconds from Dutch Ferry Weertman and Greek Spyridon Gianniotis, who finished second and third respectively.
Divase on the other hand was at the back of the field from the start. He crossed the first split time in 32.12.2 in 68th position. He dropped two places to 70th by the second split but rose back to be 68th at the third split.
The 29-year-old eventually finished the race in 2:16.50.2, more than 27 minutes slower than Wilimovsky.
Though there were 72 entries for the endurance race, two swimmers did not start while one failed to finish, making the Indian the last finisher.
