T R Suresh Takes Charge as Top Cop of Mangaluru Police Commissionerate

Mangaluru: T R Suresh takes charge as Police Commissioner of Mangaluru Commissionerate here on June 12.

Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar handed over the charge to incoming officer T R Suresh. After taking charge, addressing the media persons Police Commissioner Suresh said, “It is my privilege to serve as police Commissioner in Mangaluru. I will follow in the footsteps of my predecessor Chandra Sekhar. I will make policing more people friendly.”

T R Suresh has earlier served in various districts in Karnataka like Uttar Kannada, Bagalkot, Vijaypura, Hubballi and Dharwad. He has served as DCP Law and Order in Mysuru, DIG of fire services in Bengaluru, Additional SP in Belagavi and SP in the Lokayukta in Tumakuru. T R Suresh hails from Shivamogga having an MBA degree from Manasa Gangothri, Mysuru.

Earlier addressing the mediapersons Outgoing police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “This is my most memorable tenure I have ever had for one-and-a-half years in Mangaluru as police commissioner. I had come to Mangaluru in the first week of January 2016, and the city was not familiar to me. With the support of my colleagues and the people of Mangaluru I adjusted to my work”.

Chandra Sekhar further said, “Mangaluru as known as the city of intellectuals. People of Mangaluru are very friendly and they respect the law and order. Some anti-social elements are trying to spoil the peace in the society and I have tried my best to control such elements. I have introduced the Phone-in Programme to make policing more effective and people friendly. I have received very good response from the people and strong support from the media. The Phone-in Programme was a platform for the people to contact the police directly, share their problems and find the solution”.

While concluding Chandra Sekhar said, “I have been transferred to Bengaluru as IGP, CID and Economic Offences. I would like to thank all my colleagues, police officers and all the officers in the police department, Media friends and the lovely people of Mangaluru for supporting me to discharge my duties with transparency and integrity. I also urge the people to co-operate with the incoming police commissioner.”
