Take steps to prevent Covid-19 – Udupi DC G Jagadeesha
Udupi: Precautionary measures are being taken against the outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19), in Udupi district said G Jagadeesha, Deputy Commissioner.
Charing a meeting at the DC office on March 4 Jagadeesha directed the health department officials to take necessary precautionary measures to check the coronavirus threat.
As a Bengaluru-based techie has tested positive for Covid-19, the health department has announced a high alert. “N 95 masks and other safeguards to treat the suspected patients should be available in sufficient numbers. If more materials are required, the department should float tenders to procure necessary safety equipment.”
He discussed the precautionary measures to be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the district. Also, door-to-door awareness programmes should be taken up. Asha and Anganwadi workers should be involved in the awareness programmes at the rural level, he added.
He said that the people need not panic and report to the district hospital if they come across any symptoms of the viral fever. An isolation ward with five beds has been set up to treat patients suffering from coronavirus at the district hospital, he said.
