?The true teacher defends his pupils against his own personal influence.? Have you noticed that we have teachers around us at almost every moment during the day? They help us. They challenge our minds. But what do they truly do for us? I would say that they do more than we can imagine. In fact, the teachers we see on an everyday basis are given more time to talk to us than our own parents. We are constantly busy with one thing or another at home, but in school there is only the worry of good grades and learning new things.
This brings me on to a quote that I had read last night. It says, ?Passive acceptance of the teacher’s wisdom is easy to most boys and girls. It involves no effort of independent thought, and seems rational because the teacher knows more than his pupils; it is moreover the way to win the favor of the teacher unless he is a very exceptional man.
Yet the habit of passive acceptance is a disastrous one in later life. It causes man to seek and to accept a leader, and to accept as a leader whoever is established in that position.? Whether or not this quote is true, I do not know. It is my personal belief, however, that teachers are the ones who bring upon the future leaders of the world. While not everyone agrees, it is my firm idea that without the great teachers that we are able to experience during life, the world would never move forward, but instead repeat the unlearned mistakes of the past.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
