TEENS 2023, two day Residential camp for YCS held at Surathkal Deanery 

Mangaluru: YCS St. Mother Teresa Deanery, Surathkal Organized TEENS 2023 , two day residential program from 21-23 October 2023, at Divine Call Centre (DCC) Mulki for all YCS members of the deanery and for other units.

   

The residential camp was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr Austine Peter Peres, Vicar Forane Surathkal Deanery, along with Shri Anthony S. Mariappa IFS, Deputy Conservator Forest (DCF), Mangalore, Fr. Abraham D’Souza SVD, Superior Divine Call Centre Mulki, Fr Richard D’Souza Deanery YCS Director, Mrs Jane Mathias YCS Deanery Animator, Royston Menezes, YCS Deanery President by symbolically sticking the themes of TEENS 2023 , Transform, Enlighten, Empower, Nurture and Shine (TEENS) on the Board.

Very Rev Fr Austine in his presidential address said that youth must always “EAT daily, to Shine in the Society through Evolve, Adapt and Tactics mehtodology. He wished well to TEENS 2023 programme.

During the Key note address , Shri Anthony Mariappa, IFS, the DCF of Mangalore , shared his experiences and how he could achieve an important position in Civil service level today . He also spoke about civil service exams, and how to face them easily, if they have a goal to enter into Civil Service.

The ICYM members of Mulki Parish performed a street play on Drug abuse and conducted ice break session.
During the technical sessions, the top Well Qualified resource persons from the industry motivated the participants.

Mr Ronald Sylvan D’Souza, Founder and Executive Director, Leksa, Lighting Technologies Pvt. Ltd. conducted session on “Youth Empowerment through self employment.”

Ms Queenie Maria D’Costa, JCI Zonal Trainer motivated teenagers about the importance self grooming in professional life , leadership skills , accompanied by Communication skills.

Dr. Fr. Jacob, SVD, specialized in Clinical Psychology took an interesting session on,” Teenage Love affairs and tensions.”

Ms Cleeta D’ Souza Managing Partner of R.T Edu skills, & General Secretary, FIMCAP, took a session on Transform, Enlighten, Empower Nurture and Shine through group activities.
YCS inter unit cultural Competitions ‘ Teens Talent Show’, was held in the evening. Each unit presented 15 minutes variety programme on youth and media. YCS unit of Katipalla Parish came out as Winners, and YCS Surathkal unit won Runners up.Fr Ronald D Silva honoured the winners with trophies.

On the Second day, Mr Francis D Cunha , Head Master of Padua High School Mangalore , spoke on Professional Challenges and how to crack, Civil Service exams.

Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) Mangalore members , under the leadership of Dr Elvis Rodrigues, Neurologist, Indiana Hospital, Conducted games, actions songs activities and shared their faith experiences. They Were really inspiring to teens.

All the top resource persons were honoured with shawl and the eco friendly mementos for their achievements in respective fields.
Fr Roshan D’ Cunha , DEXCO Director, celebrated the concluding Mass and Dexco members conducted icebreaking games and activities.

The faith of the Children was nurtured with the morning Prayer, meditation, Holy Eucharist, Adoration, Rosary, evening & night Prayers during the camp.

The concluding Programme was held on 23 October Monday 2023, at DCC, Mulki, presided over by Fr Richard D’Souza, YCS Director of Surathkal Deanery along with the chief guest, Fr Ronald D’ Silva, the cinematographer of Bollyhood. In his chief guest address, Fr Ronald D’Silva said, “Don’t give the Key of your happiness to someone else”.

In his presidential address, Fr Richard said, “In TEENS 2023, we have given some input and in return, we do expect something in return in 2033; at least a few from this group must be in top positions in companies surrounded in Surathkal area and some in top Government Jobs”.

The two days Teens 2023, residential camp concluded with the YCS anthem.
