Tenants Steal Valuables from Owner’s House in Mulki

Mangaluru: Shiva and Basavaraju of Uttar Kannada origin, who were staying in a rented house belonging to Baby (65) of Soojikallugudde under Kavoor police station limits, are said to have absconded after stealing valuables belonging to her.

A complaint filed in the Kavoor station says that the houses are adjacent to each other and separated by only a door. They had taken up the house only on June 20. Within two days, when the owner was away, they are said to have broken into the house and stolen a gold bangle, two gold rings and an LCD TV from her house. They have been missing ever since.

The police have cautioned the public to make a proper enquiry into the antecedents of the tenants and keep copies of identity documents with permanent address included.

Her neighbours said that she might have decided to have security by allowing tenants, but it seemed to have served the opposite purpose.
